Even though my first official photo shoot wasn't supposed to be until tonight, I took several portraits this past weekend. My beautiful niece, Lauren turned 12 on 8/8/08. So I asked her if she would pose for a couple "It's-All-About-Me-Today" pictures. She makes such a great model. Her 80's fashion sense makes me love her even more!

I was also able to get in a few shots of my first-born. Hailey loves the camera

So here's the deal. I need you to tell me what you really think. Don't just comment, "Great picutres!" - Really tell me what you see. I need to know if you think they're as good as Sears.
Tonight's photo shoot has been moved to Wednesday, so I'll post those pictures Thursday. ;)
At first blush, I like the first one you posted of your niece & the first one of your daughter. Upon blowing them up, tho, I'm not as fond of either one.
ReplyDeleteFor the one of your niece, I would have had her lower her arm/raise her head so that her arm isn't blocking part of her chin/face.
For the one of your daughter, the light isn't right. There are shadows across her face/bright shiny light on her cheek. I also would have removd the leaf that is right next to her head as I find it distracting.
HTH
I really do think they're great pictures! The only thing I see is that in the 5th picture her hair is in her face and in the last pic of Hailey the top of her head is cut off a bit and it kind of looks like her nose was running. But what do I know. Love ya!!
ReplyDeleteOK Sis! You know me and I love photography! I think the anonymous person could be a great person to tell you the flaws of your pictures.
ReplyDeleteI like the posses of all the pictures. Remember a portrait doesn't always mean that the subject is looking at the camera or even facing the camera.
The background is good (wish we had that in Texas).
My favorite picture is the birthday cake one. The light off the candles is awesome. I wish the person next to her wasn't so close. (Did you make the cake...it is awesome...I bet it was chocolate icing with yellow cake...ummmm....) Anyways, Great Job Girlie! I love you!
I like the one of Lauren with her hands up in Black and White. Now that others talk about the runny nose and the head cut off I see it. Hmmmm overall pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI saw what the other people were saying after I read their comments, but not before, so maybe I am not the best judge of this sort of thing. I think the more opportunity you have to take pictures the more you will love it and the better you will get. The whole practice makes perfect thing. There are a bunch of great photography blogs, um not that I read them. I am a point and click kind of girl. But O'Keefe Family Fun has a bunch of links to good photo blogs.
ReplyDeleteok..so i love the 1st one of lauren..the 2nd one of her..her hairsto much in her face..the 3rd one..not so much my favorite to much of a close up..4th one totally cute and so her..i like the picture/pose idea in the "peek a boo tree one" just again with the hair in the face..the cake one would be cute if the other person wasnt in it so it could be focused on lauren and her hand shoulda been put down!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutly love the 1st one of hailey..cute pose idea..
2nd one she needs her nose wipped..and i think it shoulda had head to feet shot instead of her head and legs being cut off but its another cute pose idea(except maybe with all the dead leaves and grass..but cute outfits and cute posses.. GREAT JOB..KEEP IT UP!!
